Fuchs started a furniture store and an undertaking business which he operated until his death in 1912, when his son, Adam G. Fuchs, took over. Ott, 83 of Jefferson, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at UW-Hospital of Madison. He was born on July 19, 1939, in Jefferson, WI, the son of Leon and Kunigunda Ott. Bob graduated from Jefferson High School in 1957 and on May 18, 1963, he married Barbara Meyers at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Watertown. Bob worked as a produce grocer at the Kroger Grocery Store of Janesville.
In 1926, the younger Fuchs sold the business to Oscar Hildebrant and in 1941, it changed hands again when Harry Minshall purchased the business. Minshall sold the furniture store to Arthur Swanson in 1947, but retained the funeral home, which he continued to operate for decades. Olsen also added a thank-you to all the community of Jefferson for the opportunity he and his father had to serve so many local families over the years. But most important will be the personal relationships he forms with community members in the course of his profession. The Gibsons plan to be move to Jefferson as soon as the remodeling is done.
Fuchs started a furniture store and undertaking business. “We are so impressed with the Gibsons and so excited to transfer our business to them,” David Olsen said. Gibson said he looks to become involved in community organizations and improvement efforts and is excited about prospects for riverfront revitalization. Even though word of the business transfer has only just gotten out, Gibson said, the Jefferson community already has been really welcoming. “My office will be done next week and we hope to have an open house for the community within a month,” Gibson said.
